Rundale Palace ensemble – the most outstanding monument of Baroque and Rococo architecture and art in Latvia. The palace was built for the Duke of Courland, Ernst Johann Biron based on the project by architect F.B.Rastrelli during two time periods – from 1736 till 1749 and from 1764 till 1768. Most of the interior decorations were created by the sculptor J.M.Graff and artists F.Martini and C.Zucchi. Three staterooms are open to public in the eastern wing of the palace - the Gold Hall, White Hall and Grand Gallery. The central building is occupied by the Duke’s former living quarters – parade salons and private apartments and the fully restored Duchess' apartments and rooms are situated in the western wing of the palace. read more |

Mezotne Castle Mound is situated on the left bank of the Lielupe River opposite the Mezotne Palace. One of the largest fortifications of the 9th - 13th century Semigallians, covering an area of 3,500 m2, with a height exceeding 16 m. Over an area of 13 ha the ancient town was situated in the territory between Mezotne Castle Mound and the Wine Hill – Castle Mound. Next to the Castle Mound – Mezotne Church and the cemetery of the owners of Mezotne Palace – princes von Lieven. Traditionally on the third Saturday of May Mezotne Castle Mound Festivity is held here. read more |

Vīna kalns - Castle mound is situated approximately 500 m to the South of Mezotne Hillfort and can be reached by a trail along the bank of the Lielupe Valley.
